Have you watched Awa Odori 阿波踊り? ⁣
⁣
Awa Odori is one of Japan’s oldest and most famous traditional dance festivals. ⁣
⁣
⁣⁣I was lucky to have the chance to experience many fun summer festivals in Japan and the most spectacular festival is Awa Odori 阿波踊りin Tokushima 徳島. ⁣
⁣
Tokushima hosts the largest summer dance festival in Japan. ⁣
⁣
I was so determined to experience this summer blockbuster festival that I took a train down to Tokushima even though I didn’t manage to book a hotel. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
The dance groups (ren 連) were unbelievably mesmerizing to watch and the energy in the city was so infectious. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The passionate dancers and synchronised movements bring so much joy!⁣ Watch the video till the end 🔥⁣

⁣
I long to be in Japan in the autumn 🍂 ⁣
⁣
These words from my favourite travel writer, Pico Iyer, echoes my feelings about Japan’s autumn. ⁣
⁣
He explains that “it’s the reddening of the maple leaves under a blaze of ceramic-blue skies that is the place’s secret heart” in his soulful book “Autumn Light: Season of Fire and Farewells”, encapsulating the beauty of Japan’s autumn.⁣
⁣
Anytime is a good time to visit Japan but the autumn months are exceptional as Japan glows with spectacular fall colours. ⁣
⁣
The comfortable autumn weather also makes it perfect for outdoor sightseeing and hiking activities. ⁣

⁣ 💕 My wish came true in Udo Shrine 鵜戸神 ⁣
💕 My wish came true in Udo Shrine 鵜戸神宮!
⁣
I was lucky on my 4th throw and my undama 運玉 hit “bull’s-eye” ⁣🎯
⁣
It is believed that if your undama or lucky balls landed in the small pool on the rocks, you will have good luck and your wishes will be granted!
⁣
The views from Udo Shrine are so stunning as it sits on the Nichinan Coast in Miyazaki 宮崎.
⁣
This seaside shrine ⛩️ is revered as the mythical birthplace of Japan’s first emperor. ⁣
⁣
The shrine is very special and I felt a strong sense of peace and gratitude when I walked through the shrine. ⁣
⁣
Adorable rabbits 🐰 are the shrine’s divine messengers of God, shinshi 神使 and they are found all over the area.⁣
⁣
Undo Shrine was a perfect end to the memorable Miyazaki trip!⁣
⁣
Thanks to @visitmiyazaki for sharing the beauty of Miyazaki with us!⁣

Have you tried shochu pairing before?⁣⁣

Shochu 焼酎 is a traditional distilled spirit from 🇯🇵 that is brewed from ingredients like sweet potato, brown sugar, barley, and buckwheat. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Thanks to the exclusive Maker’s Premium Dinner organised by @visitmiyazaki, I had the honour to savour a 5-course meal paired with shochu for the first time in my life!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The sumptuous dinner was specially curated with shochu pairing designed by Tadashi Yanagita (柳田正) the Master Brewer who runs the fifth-generation-old Yanagita Distillery (柳田酒造). ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Shochu brings out the subtle flavours of the dishes and enhances the taste profiles of each course. ⁣⁣

Visiting shochu distilleries in Miyazaki (宮崎) is such an eye-opening experience!  ⁣
  ⁣
Thanks to @visitmiyazaki for showing us the wonders of Japanese shochu!  ⁣
  ⁣
One of the most memorable shochu experiences was at Furusawa Distillery (古澤醸造).   ⁣
  ⁣
The family-owned distillery started their shochu-making legacy in 1892.   ⁣
  ⁣
Located in the atmospheric city of Nichinan (日南) and flanked by the Pacific Ocean and Hosoda River, Furusawa Distillery is only distillery left in Miyazaki that is brewing shochu in its original traditional building.   ⁣
  ⁣
What a privilege to meet Masako Furusawa (古澤昌子) and toured her distillery! She is the fifth-generation president and a respected female toji (杜氏), a master of distilling pure shochu.   ⁣
  ⁣
A tour through Furusawa Distillery was like travelling back in time!   ⁣
  ⁣
The tradition of making koji using wooden trays, the ancient ceramic jars half-buried in the ground for fermentation, and the historical mud-walled buildings…
  ⁣
Furusawa shochu is very special as it embodies history, rituals, and the determination and passion to make pure shochu the traditional way 👏👏👏

Thanks to @claudiachen29 林太做什麼 for joining the Tainan travel session and sharing her hometown’s food and traditions.⁣⁣⁣

Do you know that Miyazaki is Japan’s top producer of shochu? ⁣
