⁣
Here’s the Japan itinerary I wish more people knew about.⁣
⁣
🇯🇵 I’m so lucky to have visited Japan a number of times ans Shikoku 四国 still surprised me.⁣
⁣
One of the top highlights this year was that I returned to Shikoku to finally do the full loop around the island!
⁣
Over one week, I travelled through all four prefectures, from giant whirlpools and hidden mountain valleys to historic onsens, local food markets, and picturesque islands.⁣
⁣
4 prefectures. Endless discoveries 🩵
🍜 Kagawa ⁣
🌊 Tokushima ⁣
♨️ Ehime ⁣
🏞️ Kochi⁣
⁣
🚲 Bonus Adventure: Shimanami Kaido: I added two extra day sto cycle across the Seto Inland Sea, island-hopping between Ehime and Hiroshima.⁣
⁣
For a first-time trip, I would recommend giving Shikoku at least 7 days.⁣
⁣
But honestly? You could spend weeks or even months here and still have more to discover.⁣
⁣
So don’t try to rush it. Take your time. Wander a little. Stay longer in the places you love.⁣
⁣
Because chances are, you’ll be back. ⁣
⁣
✈️ Share this your Japan travel buddy!⁣
⁣
⭐️ I have also put together a comprehensive Shikoku travel guide packed with travel tips, places to visit, food recommendations, transportation advice, and itinerary ideas. Link in bio 👆

Welcome to the Traditional Okinawan Crafts Exhibition: Bonds Connecting the Ryukyu Kingdom to the Present!⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
A special, limited-time-only exhibition at @japancreativecentre celebrating 60 years of diplomatic relations between Japan and Singapore 🇯🇵🇸🇬⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
I had the joy of being part of the opening ceremony where I shared some of my favourite spots, food, and memories from Okinawa. Seeing so many of you curious and excited about my favourite place in Japan made the night even more special⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣🩵
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
Okinawa holds a special place in my heart, it’s where I spent the most time in Japan, living and teaching there for 2 years thanks to the @jet_programme
⁣⁣
So being part of this exhibition felt personal, almost like bringing a piece of my second home to Singapore.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
Thanks to Okinawa Prefectural Government Singapore Office @okinawasg.go and JCC for bringing a piece of Okinawa all the way to Singapore.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
Walking through the exhibition, I was reminded of just how much Okinawa has to offer, from its traditional crafts to the historical sites, especially Shuri Castle.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
If Okinawa isn’t on your travel list yet, come see this exhibition first, then start planning your trip.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
The live sanshin music from Singapore Sanshin Association and authentic Okinawan food brought the whole island to life for one evening. I had goosebumps listening to the sanshin music. Those few hours made me miss Okinawa so much that I went home and immediately checked flights 😂⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

Don’t miss the exhibition!⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

🍵 The side of Fukuoka most tourists never see⁣
⁣
Few travellers realise that Fukuoka is home to centuries-old maiko and tea traditions.⁣
⁣
Hakata, the historic heart of Fukuoka, was once one of Japan’s most important trading ports. ⁣
⁣
Its prosperity helped traditional arts, music and tea culture flourish, creating a cultural heritage that can still be experienced today.⁣
⁣
I recently joined a time-honoured tea ceremony at @hakata.geidokoro.wanoka where a maiko guided us through the rituals and etiquette of Japanese tea culture. ⁣
⁣
The matcha served here comes from Yame, one of Japan’s most renowned tea-producing regions, famous for its rich umami flavour and exceptional quality. ⁣
⁣
But this experience goes far beyond tea.⁣
⁣
The cultural immersion includes a delicious Japanese lunch, elegant maiko dance performances, captivating live shamisen music and the opportunity to step inside the heart of Japanese culture.⁣
⁣
If you’re looking for unique things to do in Fukuoka, add this to your itinerary!
⁣
🇯🇵 Would you try a tea ceremony led by a maiko?⁣
⁣
📍 Hakata Geidokoro Wanoka (博多芸どころ わのか)⁣
4-220 Kamikawabata-machi, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka-shi, Fukuoka-ken, Japan⁣
⁣
🇯🇵 Kyushu continues to welcome visitors, with Fukuoka, Kumamoto and other parts of the region operating as usual despite the recent Kumamoto earthquake.⁣
