Okinawa’s summer is scorching hot – but who can blame the sun when she beautifies the island with her splendid rays? The blue sky, ocean and pristine sand!  Enjoy your summer in Okinawa by indulging in some of the things on this list!

 

1. Festivals and everything fabulous that comes with it! Eisa! Fireworks! Music!

What is summer without festivals? Throughout Japan, from Hokkaido to Okinawa, there are so many different summer festivals that attract huge crowds! So what is summer in Okinawa without Eisa and fireworks? Here are some amazing summer festivals that you should not miss!

2. Island-hopping

Summer is the best time to embark on idyllic island adventures. To fully enjoy Okinawa’s summer, visit the multitude of islands that Okinawa is blessed with! From the Kerama islands (Japan’s  31st protected National Park) to the far-flung, fabulous Miyako and Ishigaki, or even small islands like Kudaka and Tsuken, do your summer justice by visiting at least one island! 5. Star-gazing at the beach

Every August, the Perseid meteor shower adds sparkle to Okinawa’s summer magic. 2015 is a great year to enjoy the most beloved meteor shower in the Northern Hemisphere. The peak is usually in middle of August almost every year. Pack your picnic basket and flashlights and head to a remote beach to enjoy this spectacle!
